We all know what winter in Melbourne can be like – grey, icy and miserable.

But it was certainly worth making a trip out there last month (and putting up with the crazy weather) for the Design:Made:Trade show at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

I exhibited my ‘Spirit of the Bush‘ series over four days – and sold all the pieces! It was amazing to get such tremendous compliments and enquiries about my textiles.

It was also rewarding to see such great support for my Australian-made, organically certified luxury products. This support has translated to something quite real and exciting – two new dedicated retail distributors for my work.

So what’s the event all about? It’s basically a fantastic opportunity to showcase innovative Australian designers (such as myself) from all different disciplines to different industry professionals. We’re talking interior designers, architects, traders and retailers.

All in all, it was a wonderful and very diverse show. I was part of a group of bespoke designers who created stunning wood furniture and glass works, among other things. As usual with these types of events, I made plenty of new connections, and got valuable feedback and ideas from the industry.

To sum up in one word: uplifting!

I look forward to the Sydney event early next year.
